The Intuitive Colorimeter and Precision Tinted Lenses

The Intuitive Colorimeter is a new and unique optometric instrument allowing specific prescribing of tinted lenses for therapeutic purposes.

With the Intuitive Colorimeter the effect of colour on visual perception can be examined under controlled conditions in an efficient and thorough manner and while the eyes are colour adapted.

The hue, saturation and brightness can be varied independently and variations of colour can be made sufficiently small to give the appearance of continuous change.

Cerium Precision Tinted Lenses enable the prescribed colour to be reproduced as a tinted lens. The Precision Tinted Lenses are dyed to a degree of accuracy beyond that commonly found in ophthalmic tinting and are issued with a Certificate of Authenticity to verify this.

With this new system an almost infinite number of different tints are available.

Double-masked clinical research trials led by Dr. Arnold Wilkins of the Applied Psychology unit of the Medical Research Council in conjunction with the Institute of Optometry, London, have shown that the Intuitive Colorimeter and the Cerium Precision Tinted Lenses are a reliable and accurate method of determining the optimum tint for those with reading problems or visual disturbances.

Other applications where the Colorimeter has been used are migraine, headache, photo-sensitive epilepsy and cases of retinopathy. In the U.K. the Dyslexia Institute recognizes the importance of this new technology and has co-operated closely in its development.Tinted Lenses are a reliable and accurate method of determining the optimum tint for those with reading problems or visual disturbances. For over ten years Kevin Rooney and Mark Parsons have had a special interest in tinted lens and their possible benefits for people who experience reading difficulties. This new technology represents a quantum leap in the assessment of those who might be helped.
